Sebastien Tellier - Sexuality (Remixes)

Parisian singer/songwriter/house hero Sébastien Tellier burst upon the dance music scene in 1999 when he licensed a track to a compilation issued by the revered Source imprint. Labelmates Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel of Air swiftly signed him to their Record Makers label and released Tellier’s debut album, L’incroyable Vérité, in 2001.

Flashworx - Two Guys In Japan

With summer approaching us, the sun shining, the beach, one name comes to mind : Flashworx! Happy 80s vibes, combined with high energy beats is what this Swiss Nu-Italo duo is all about. From their massive solos, to their understanding of what really hits the heart, Flashworx are rising stars on the disco/new wave scene.

TORNADO WALLACE - Paddlin

More discerning discotheque cuts for the cowbell connoisseur from the Delusion of Grandeur imprint, this time calling on Australian playboy Tornado Wallace. The Melbourne resident has impressed with previous pitched down mutant discoid cuts for the Sleazy Beats and Murmur imprints, but the Paddlin' EP sees Tornado Wallace go deep.

Cole MEDINA/EDDIE C/SLEAZY McQUEEN - Tighten Up On That Backstroke

We're not sure if Whisky Disco are based in France but they certainly know their onions when it comes to crafty edits. On their fourth release, Whisky Disco enlist the finest California has to offer in Cole Medina. The House Arrest boss has long been championed by the disco savoir faire for his epic slo mo reimagination of the Bee Gees. Here, Medina expertly picks apart some late 70s/early 80s disco funk.

Runaway - Broken Man

As a close follow up to Runaway’s “The Fire Below”, OTP’s new “Broken Man” follows suit with sprawling mood and tension. Laced with hypnotic Detroit-esque organ riffs, disco flourishes, detuned pads, and the repeating chant “Broken Man”, it’s proper Runaway dance floor frenzy. As an A-side bonus cut we get Runaway’s live version which features an outtake of their forthcoming live show! Nice!

Soundpool - Mirrors in Your Eyes

The ideas that Soundpool blends together on Mirrors In Your Eyes all work together so magnificently, it's enough to make you wonder why few have made as much of a commitment to this idea in the past. Ulrich Schnauss has called Soundpool the "best fucking band in the world," and while I may not necessarily use those exact words, I can appreciate the enthusiasm. Music that feels this good is bound to elicit wild bouts of hyperbole.

Jan Shipper - Return To Tomorrow

After long silence period Hypersound decided to please us with new Album. This time we got Jan Schipper – Return to tomorrow.
Album contains 12 classical spacesynth songs. I even say too much “classical”. And this similarity got some negative elements. Most album songs sound same, missing some individuality, creativeness. Everything sounds too much same: same drums, most same synths parts (they sound too smooth, too sweet), same composition ideas (exception may be “In cyber space”).

Macrocosm - First Mission

An interesting first album out of the cooperation project between Anders Lundqvist and Marco Rochowski. You can easily identify differences in style: Rochowsky's sound is definitely more powerful and coulourful than Lundqivst's bit calm and thin beat. To use a metaphora, Lundqivst is like describing deep space while Rochowsky zooms right into the action. Depends on which one you like more. In my stereo, Lundqvist plays more often.

Alex LE TAN & JESS/VARIOUS - Space Oddities: A Compilation Of Rare European Library Grooves From 1975-1984

The latest offering from Munich’s Permanent Vacation; a collection of rare library recordings, dug out of dusty vaults, and released for your enjoyment. It’s hard to find much to say about this. If you are into the more obscure avenues of music, specifically the 60’s 70’s 80’s library sound - spacey, mechanical and pioneering or your tastes are of the beard stroking variety, then you will almost certainly know of this release already and my words will merely offer another opinion. If on the other hand obscure library music, or leftfield disco is not your bag, this compilation is going to sound similar to the many others that have mined the same area….. basically the soundtrack to a cool movie you never saw.

BOOHGALOO ZOO - Boohgaloo Zoo

Boohgaloo Zoo are Kbonus and U-Gene, two veterans of the Belgian and Dutch music scene respectively. After meeting at the 10 Days Off festival in Ghent the duo started exchanging music and soon enough a full album was in the making. With Kbonus adding beats and samples and U-Gene dropping the vocals and keys it was obvious they were a match made in P-funk heaven, as you can hear on their eponymous album released on 5th July 2010 on  Lovemonk Records.

METRONOMY - Not Made For Love

Before Metronomy puts out their next full-length, right between touring their native U.K. & the States, Joseph Mount's electro-synth act releases Not Made For Love EP.  While last year's Nights Out embraced the higher, dance-weird side of electronica, Not Made For Love introduces a more indietronic side to the band - as well as a slew of remixes.

Kitsune Maison Compilation 9

Synthetic Sound was lucky enough to be sent a promo copy of Kitsuné Records’ ninth installment subtitled “Le Petit Bateau Edition.” Kitsuné Maison Compilation 9 is set to be released on April 26, 2010. Kitsuné has long been known for putting together records starring up-and-coming electronic and indie artists. Compilation 9 is my favorite release yet, and the list of artists contributing songs reads like a who’s who in music today. Kitsuné describes it as “the most snuggly, peaceful, motherly” compilation with a “selection that’s probably more geared at sunday afternoon than saturday night.” Kitsuné Maison Compilation 9 is a must buy. Highly recommended.

Ichisan & Nakova - Yugo Tempo

Between them duo Ichisan & Nakova have toured the cream of the new disco stables with releases on Nang, Eskimo and Airtight. They present their debut album together for Nang, collecting thirteen Balkan disco grooves spiked with sparkling spacewise synths, cosmic guitar licks and dubbed basslines for the connoisseurs. Fans of Lindstrom, Ilija Rudman or Todd Terje should have a peek.

20-20 Vision have dropped this compilation of goodies exclusively for Juno and it's packed full of disco goodness from beginning to end. With Chicken Lips, Prins Thomas, Crazy P, Maurice Fulton and Lindstrom amongst others all on board, you know this is going to be something pretty special. Fulton's mix of Fred Everything's Elevate starts things off perfectly.

POLLYESTER - German Love Letter

The label about this release:
Featuring remixes by Permanent Vacation, Optimo Espacio and Hal Tabac! LOVE IN C MINOR presents number 8 in Pollyester's count down series! GERMAN LOVE LETTER is here to wake the old babes at the slots with a mantrische lullabye which goes like ACH DU ACH DU ACH DU ACH DU ACH DU! In the middle of snowy Munich's nowhere a black heart army of penguin lovers is doing the heart-break dance.

Midnight Juggernauts - Crystal Axis

Melbourne's very own Midnight Juggernauts release their sophomore album, The Crystal Axis today. While at least two tracks have already been well and truly leaked ('This New Technology' and 'Vital Signs' bounced off our collective eardrums a while ago), listening to the album in its entirety is (inevitably) another thing altogether.
